What this area covers

Six non-surgical facial treatments

Facial aesthetic medicine brings together the non-surgical procedures that Serena Clinic applies to the skin, volume, expression and firmness of the face. Serena Clinic performs six of these treatments at its practice at Carrer de Marià Cubí 128 in Barcelona, a centre registered in the Generalitat de Catalunya register of healthcare centres under regional healthcare authorisation code U.48: E08571364.

Each of these six treatments responds to a different type of need. The treatments for dynamic wrinkles and dermal fillers are aimed, respectively, at needs related to expression and volume. Thread lifts and non-surgical lifting work on tissue support and firmness. Chemical peel and regenerative therapy target the quality and texture of the skin.

The indication depends on the specific need, the facial characteristics, the relevant medical history and the reasonably achievable result. The same aesthetic concern may require different techniques in different people. Before indicating a facial treatment, Serena Clinic performs a prior medical assessment to study the case and define an individualised plan. The results described may vary in each patient: this page is for informational purposes and does not replace an individualised medical assessment.

Facial treatments, grouped by what they treat

The six facial treatments at Serena Clinic are grouped into three blocks according to the tissue and need they act on. Treatments within the same block are not interchangeable.

Before the treatment

Medical assessment precedes any indication

Before indicating a facial treatment, Serena Clinic performs a prior medical assessment to study the case and define an individualised plan. In that consultation the medical history is reviewed, the skin and facial structures are examined, and the patient’s goal is compared with the reasonably achievable result.

The assessment makes it possible to define the technique, the areas and, where appropriate, the materials or an initial estimate of sessions, which may be adjusted as treatment progresses. It also indicates what is not appropriate: some goals require surgery rather than aesthetic medicine.

This assessment is performed by Dr. Rafael Serena Sánchez, medical licence nº 29766 (Col·legi de Metges de Barcelona) and medical director of Serena Clinic.

Serena Clinic care process

Care process

How a facial treatment is decided

These are the general steps of the care process at Serena Clinic; they may be adjusted according to the treatment and medical judgement.

01

First visit and assessment

The doctor collects the medical history, examines the face and records the reason for the visit. The assessment determines whether the need corresponds to facial aesthetic medicine or to another of Serena Clinic’s areas.

02

Indication and treatment plan

The assessment makes it possible to define the technique, the areas and, where appropriate, the materials, as well as an initial estimate of sessions that may be adjusted according to the progress of each case.

03

Application and follow-up

The treatment is performed at the Marià Cubí 128 practice. Follow-up is adapted to the procedure and the progress of each patient.
